Juan Arzayus

In the years prior to his college education, Juan has lived and was privately educated in Columbia, England, Spain, and here in the United States. Naturally, Juan is bilingual. Having a heart service, Juan spent two decades in law enforcement where he served as a patrolman, road supervisor, field training officer and an instructor. Now, Juan has chosen to be an InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector. Juan is pretty much the most interesting man in the world of home inspections. His attention to detail, great attitude, and desire to serve has made him an amazing asset to Handy Home Inspections.

Meet Joshua Luke Owner and Inspector for Handy Home Inspection

Joshua Luke

CPI/Owner

Joshua hails from Fitzgerald, Georgia and arrived in Valdosta in 2002 where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. After many years in law enforcement Joshua decided to utilize his skills and open the Hometown Handyman of South Georgia in October 2022 while continuing to serve as a local deputy. As the business continued to expand, Juan Arzayus and Dawson Tillman came on board. As part of our services, we began to offer home inspection services in addition to home repairs and all became InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspectors. As time progressed, we continued to grow in our desire to perform quality home inspections. Now, we have made the decision to dedicate ourselves to full time home inspections. Hometown Handyman of South Georgia is now doing business as Handy Home Inspections. We are always excited about serving our customers and helping them fulfill their dreams of homeownership.

Our History

While serving as a police officer, I decided to remodel my home. I believed I could do much of the work myself having learned a lot from my father. As the project continued, I found myself doing a lot of reading and learning about various home systems and building practices. Doing it all alone took time, but in the end what I acquired was a lot more knowledge and skills.

Several people told me, “you should do this for a living.” As my law enforcement career was coming to and end, I was looking for a new challenge. Often, I heard complaints from friends and family about how hard it was to find someone reliable to do small jobs that were to small to interest larger contractors. I made the decision to step out and fill this niche.

The Hometown Handyman of South Georgia was born. Thanks to some great customers early on, the business grew and grew. Soon, my long time friend and fellow officer Juan Arzayus, decided it was time to step away from law enforcement and came to work with me. As the work continued, we found ourselves in need of more help with a few projects.

Entered Dawson Tillman. I met Dawson though a customer and friend and asked if he wanted to make some extra money helping us with a large project. Dawson said he really enjoyed working (we were very grateful to have him too) and he would like to continue. I told him there was plenty of work to be had and that could be arranged.

Since that time, the three of us have taken on many projects, learned much, and overcome challenges together. Also during our time together, we decided to delve into the home inspection world seeing as we gained so much experience with various home systems.

We feel our experience gives us an edge on identifying actual or potential problems. In addition to hands on experience, we decided to pursue a formal certification and joined InterNACHI.

We continued to do more and more inspections and realized all of us possessed a real passion for it. After discussions about our future, the decision was made to turn to home inspections full time.

And so, Hometown Handyman of South Georgia is now Handy Home Inspections!
